Regina Robbins joined TEAM GHBA in January, arriving just in time to dive into a busy season of New Year events. As the major events and awards manager, Regina supports the Sales & Marketing Council and oversees several of GHBA’s most anticipated signature events, including the Houston’s Best PRISM Awards, Installation Extravaganza, Forecast Luncheon, and more.
GHBA CEO Aimee Bertrand recently sat down with Regina to ask a few questions and help members get to know the newest addition to the team. Be sure to stop by the GHBA offices and say hello the next time you’re in!
Aimee Bertrand (AB): Where did you grow up?
Regina Robbins (RR): Growing up in a military family meant many new beginnings. First was Michigan for my formative years, then a short but memorable time in Japan, followed by North Carolina, and finally Tennessee where I graduated from high school and college.
Tell us about your work before joining GHBA. What projects are you particularly proud of?
My work experience prior to GHBA is diverse in industry but all share commonalities in planning and organizing. The projects I’m most proud of included a team working together and achieving a goal.
Do you have a favorite memory from childhood?
Living in Japan as a child is a cherished memory. I feel especially lucky to have had this experience and was able to share it with my daughter. She moved to Japan after college and we traveled the country together.
What made you decide to come to work for GHBA?
The mix of advocacy, education and service is what makes GHBA the right place for me. I enjoy collaborative environments and firmly believe the best work happens when people come together with purpose. GHBA’s commitment to both its members and the broader community really resonated with me.
What events or projects are you looking forward to working on with the GHBA Team and why?
I am particularly excited about GHBA’s PRISM Awards, as it is the premier event of the year. I look forward to collaboratively creating the platform celebrating those recognized as best in category with the GHBA team led by the Sales and Marketing Council.
What do you do when you are away from the office? Any hobbies, talents, interests?
I’m fueled by connection, curiosity and purpose. I love traveling with my family, being outdoors and staying active at the gym. You might find me enjoying live music, scuba diving or honing my golf swing on the driving range. I am active in various philanthropy groups as well as church.
What is your go-to restaurant recommendation for out-of-town guests?
The Woodlands Market Street encompasses the best eats, live music and shopping all in walking distance of one another.
Is there anything else you would like to share with our members?
I truly value connection, collaboration and supporting one another. I’m grateful to be part of this community and look forward to learning, creating and growing together.
