As we look ahead to the 2026 election cycle, it’s clear that housing will continue to be one of the most pressing issues at every level of government. Housing affordability continues to be talked about on the national stage, and that trickles down to local conversations. From permitting timelines and infrastructure funding to local land use and drainage regulations, the decisions made by elected officials directly affect our ability to build the homes our region needs and keep them at an attainable price point.

That’s why your participation in the GHBA’s HOME-PAC is more important than ever. HOME-PAC is your political action committee representing the homebuilding industry across our 12-county region. Through member contributions, we support pro-housing candidates who understand that housing attainability is essential to our region’s continued growth and economic vitality. And we support candidates at the city, county and state level.
This election cycle will bring major change. At the state level, 49 representatives and senators represent our region, and as of this writing, 10 of those seats will be open. Additionally, Texans will elect a new attorney general and comptroller. It is imperative that we support pro-housing candidates to represent us in Austin. Locally, both Harris County and Brazoria County will elect new county judges, the chief executive of the county, with rumors of other counties seeing turnover as well. Each of these races will shape the policies and processes that govern our industry.
Your contribution to HOME-PAC ensures that GHBA members have a voice in those decisions. One thing that has resonated with me is that we don’t elect candidates with an R or D behind their name, but we elected candidates with an H for housing. We support candidates who work with us to make housing attainable, permitting predictable and development reasonable.
