Westin Homes, the builder of a Greater Houston Builders Association Benefit Home, recently presented record-breaking proceeds from the home’s sale to the two beneficiaries of this GHBA fundraiser. HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home received checks for $106,446.20 each.
Westin built the Benefit Home with donated materials, labor and services from GHBA members. The home was built on a donated homesite in Lago Mar. Land Tejas, the community’s developer, donated the homesite.
Each year, two homes are built for the Benefit Homes Project with donations from GHBA members. The homes are sold at market value and proceeds go to two local charities. This charity project has raised more than $10 million in its 38 year history.

“The entire Westin Homes team was honored to not only participate in the Benefit Homes Project for a second year, but to also be able to contribute record-setting proceeds to HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home,” said Patrick Mayhan, vice president of purchasing for Westin Homes. “The Benefit Homes Project is a terrific way for us to give back to the community through our industry.”
Westin constructed its 4,019 sq. ft. Carter III plan, a five bedroom (with two bedrooms on the first floor), 4.5 bath design. The two-car garage includes five additional feet that can be used for extra storage or a convenient workshop. The grand foyer offers a view of the triple tiered rotunda ceiling and curved stairway. The home includes a formal dining room, study and a two-story family room that features a wall of windows. The epicurean island kitchen with upgraded cabinets and breakfast area is the heart of the home. The private master suite includes a double tiered tray ceiling with no bedrooms above for a peaceful setting. Upstairs is an entertainers dream complete with a game room and adjacent media room.
“These record amounts raised for both charities is a huge accomplishment,” said Cindy Hinson, the Benefit Homes chairperson. “It required the builder to work closely with every vendor, supplier and trade to negotiate and appeal to their sense of community, in order to raise as many donations as they did. We can’t thank Westin Homes enough.”
