“When we were approached by the GHBA to participate in the Benefit Homes Project, we immediately jumped at the chance. The Westin team shares a giving spirit and understands how important it is to give back through the industry in which we work.” Patrick Mayhan, VP of Purchasing, Westin Homes

Westin Homes is full speed ahead on construction of its 2017 GHBA Benefit Home. This 37 year old GHBA charity fundraiser has raised $10 million for local charities. This is Westin Homes’ second Benefit Home, that when sold, will raise proceeds to benefit HomeAid Houston and Operation FINALLY HOME.

Westin Homes, led by Patrick Mayhan, Westin’s vice president of purchasing, is constructing the Carter III Plan in the new community of Lago Mar off I-45 in the Clear Lake and Galveston corridor. Lago Mar’s developer, Land Tejas donated the homesite. This is Land Tejas’s 15th lot donation for the Benefit Homes Project.

Mayhan and his construction team are recruiting vendors, suppliers and trades to donate materials and labor to assist in completion of the home at low cost. Benefit Homes are filled with upgrades and amenities not often found in other homes with similar pricing, yet the homes are sold at market value. If you would like to learn more about donating to help in the construction, please email Terry Swenson.

“With over 20 years of building homes in the Houston area, Westin recognizes the importance of giving back to the community that has awarded us such prosperity over the years,” said Mayhan. “When we were approached by the GHBA to participate in the Benefit Homes Project, we immediately jumped at the chance. The Westin team shares a giving spirit and understands how important it is to give back through the industry in which we work,” Mayhan added.

“I think when you look at the Greater Houston Builders Association of course you see an association of builders, remodelers, developers and the trades that support them, but you also see a group that has a huge a heart.”Bette Moser, HomeAid Houston executive director

Westin’s 4,019 sq. ft. Carter III B Elevation Plan will include five bedrooms (with two on the first floor), four-and-a-half bathrooms and a two-car garage with five additional feet which can be used for extra storage or a convenient workshop.

The grand foyer offers a view of the triple tiered rotunda ceiling and curved stairway. The home includes a formal dining room, study and a two-story family room that features a wall of windows. The epicurean island kitchen with upgraded cabinets and breakfast area is the heart of the home. The private master suite will include a double tiered tray ceiling with no bedrooms above for a peaceful setting.

Upstairs is an entertainers dream complete with a game room and adjacent media room. Outside the rear of the home is a large covered patio for comfortable entertaining.

“Westin’s focus has always been about customer satisfaction, architectural design and attention to detail,” said Will Holder, chairman of the Project. “They are true professionals in the homebuilding industry, and their generosity reflects their commitment to both their homebuyer and the community.”Will Holder, Benefit Homes Project Chairman

Chesmar Homes is also building a Benefit Home that was recently completed in the new west Houston neighborhood of Elyson off the Grand Parkway and FM 529. Newland Communities donated the homesite. Chesmar constructed its 2,733 sq. ft. Poplar Plan that is now open for visitors.
