The Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) is delighted to announce the expansion of our service territory to include Chambers County. This milestone, approved by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) at its fall board meeting in October 2024, reinforces our commitment to representing and advocating for the residential construction industry across the greater Houston area. Including Chambers County in GHBA’s service area now means that the association covers 12 counties!
Chambers County has a robust and growing community, contributing significantly to the economic vitality of the Houston metro area. With a blend of suburban, rural, and coastal landscapes, it offers diverse development opportunities, from single-family homes and master-planned communities to renovations and remodeling projects. As more families and businesses are drawn to its appealing combination of charm and convenience, our association’s builders, remodelers, developers and associates are stepping up to meet the increased demand for quality housing.
Expanding our jurisdiction to include Chambers County also expands our responsibilities. Our mission has always been to protect and promote the homebuilding industry by providing the resources, advocacy, and community connections that empower our members. Now, we’re extending those benefits and opportunities to builders and industry professionals in Chambers County. We’re excited to welcome new members from the area and to support their work with the GHBA’s full spectrum of resources.

Opportunities for Involvement
Joining the GHBA opens doors for business growth and industry leadership—and involvement with our association is key to unlocking these opportunities. Members in Chambers County have a unique advantage, as they will be served directly through the Bay Area Builders Association (BABA), which acts as a vital local division of GHBA. BABA is dedicated to representing and advocating for builders, remodelers, and associates in Chambers and surrounding counties, offering a collaborative environment focused on the specific challenges and opportunities of the coastal and suburban areas.
Here are some key ways to get involved:
1. Join a Committee or Council
GHBA’s committees and councils offer members a chance to connect with peers, learn new skills, and influence industry practices. The Bay Area Builders Association encourages members from Chambers County to consider participating in their division leadership and in other GHBA groups such as the Remodelers Council, Custom Builders Council, and Professional Women in Building Council. These groups provide invaluable networking, education, and advocacy opportunities tailored to your niche within the industry. A full list of GHBA’s opportunities for involvement can be found at the Membership tab at www.ghba.org.
2. Attend Luncheons and Events
BABA hosts regular luncheons featuring guest speakers, industry updates, and networking opportunities. These events provide local insight into building trends, economic outlooks, and policy changes. Additionally, the GHBA calendar offers members access to a wide array of events, from continuing education courses to social gatherings, all designed to foster a strong sense of community and shared purpose among industry professionals. Visit www.ghba.org/calendar to find your next great opportunity for networking, education and programs!
3. Engage in Advocacy and Local Government Affairs
Advocacy remains at the heart of our mission. By joining the GHBA, members from Chambers County have a voice in legislative affairs and local government discussions that impact the homebuilding industry. GHBA staff and members work to safeguard the industry from restrictive regulations, ensuring that builders can continue to provide affordable and innovative housing solutions. We encourage new members to actively participate in these efforts to protect and promote our industry. More information on GHBA’s advocacy and political involvement can be found at ghba.org/advocacy.
4. Support Community Service Initiatives
The GHBA is proud of our community service programs, including partnerships with HomeAid Houston, Operation Finally Home and other charitable initiatives. These organizations depend on members’ support to provide shelter, transitional housing, mortgage-free housing and modifications for injured first responders and veterans, and other resources for those in need. By volunteering time, resources, or expertise, members from Chambers County can make a direct impact on the lives of families throughout our region.
Looking Forward
As we welcome Chambers County into the GHBA fold, we are excited to see the contributions, innovation, and insights that new members will bring. With the support of BABA, GHBA is ready to ensure that our new members have the tools they need to thrive. The year 2025 promises to be a year of collaboration and growth for our association, as we build a stronger, more connected industry.
Welcome, Chambers County, to the GHBA family. We are thrilled to work together in building a brighter future.
