Over the course of a few weeks, the GHBA Professional Women in Building Council (PWB) collected donations of canned goods and items to make baskets containing ingredients for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Led by the PWB board, the food drive is part of the council’s charity project to assist HomeAid Houston with their annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive.

Donated food items included boxed stuffing, instant mashed potatoes, canned corn, cranberry sauce, green beans, mushroom soup, gravy, yams, fried onions, and foil turkey roaster pans. In addition, a $25 H-E-B gift card was included in each basket, so recipients could purchase a turkey from their local store.

On November 20, 2024, with the help of Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. employee volunteers, members of the board gathered to sort and organize the bountiful donations creating over 250 baskets – more than double the amount of baskets created in 2023. On November 21, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, four full carloads of baskets were distributed in Conroe and North Richmond, uplifting residents in need.
The PWB board of directors would like to extend its sincere gratitude to all council members and everyone who generously donated to and assisted with this year’s Thanksgiving Basket Drive. The PWB board and council is committed to supporting charity partners like HomeAid Houston and the Greater Houston community.
