Since breaking ground on January 27, the 2025 Benefit Homes Project home, built by First America Homes in partnership with The Signorelli Company, has made significant progress. Located in Bluestem, The Signorelli Company’s 365-acre master-planned community in Brookshire, this 2,416-square-foot home will provide critical funding for HomeAid Houston, Operation Finally Home and the GHBA Charitable Foundation.

“Bluestem was a natural choice for this year’s Benefit Home because it represents everything we value in community development,” Jeff Dewese, senior vice president, land division at The Signorelli Company said. “With its prime location, thoughtful planning and the strong momentum of growth in Waller County, Bluestem offers homeowners a vibrant lifestyle with exceptional access and opportunity. We’re proud to showcase this community while supporting such an important cause.”

The home successfully passed all inspection stages early on, which paved the way for key construction phases. By the end of March, major exterior and interior work had been completed, including sheetrock installation, brickwork, flatwork and garage door placement. As April began, the home’s character and functionality began to take shape with painting and cabinet installation.
Step by step, the generosity and commitment of GHBA members and trade partners are bringing this home to life. Thanks to the donations of First America Homes’ trade partners, the home will feature luxury upgrades, including a master bath with a separate garden tub and walk-in shower, an expansive 10×20-foot covered patio equipped with a custom outdoor kitchen, modern iron railing, a built-in wine rack and a metal roof accent on the front porch.
“We are incredibly grateful to each of the vendor partners involved in this project,” Scott Merovitch, GHBA Benefit Homes Project chair and city president of Chesmar Homes said. “It’s their generosity and support – from the plumbing, post-tension, countertops and more – that truly make a meaningful impact to HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home.”
Now in its 45th year, the GHBA Benefit Homes Project has raised more than $14 million for local charities, thanks to the dedication of GHBA-member developers, builders and vendor partners who donate land, labor, services and materials to construct two homes annually. The homes are then sold at market price, with proceeds benefiting Operation Finally Home, which provides housing solutions to wounded military veterans and first responders, and HomeAid Houston, which supports transitional housing and resources for those at risk of homelessness.
“Being part of the Benefit Homes Project allows us to do what we do best – build quality homes – while making a meaningful difference in the lives of veterans and families in need,” said Dave Barnhart, president of First America Homes. “It’s a responsibility we take to heart and a cause we’re proud to stand behind.”
The GHBA extends its deepest gratitude to First America Homes, The Signorelli Company and the numerous vendors and trade partners who are making this Benefit Home a reality. Each phase of the construction process, from sheetrock completion to cabinetry installation, represents a community-driven effort to give back in a meaningful way.
“It’s always inspiring to see how our members step up for the community,” Adam Aschmann, GHBA president and general counsel for Tilson Homes, said. “As homebuilders, we take pride in building quality homes every day—but when that work supports our veterans and underserved neighbors, it becomes something even more meaningful. It’s a reminder of the heart behind what we do.”
We’ll continue to share updates as this home nears completion and prepares to make a difference in the lives of those it aims to support. Visit ghba.org/benefithomes for more.
