As the professional world continues to evolve, mentorship remains a cornerstone of career growth—especially for women building their paths in traditionally male-dominated industries like construction. The GHBA Professional Women in Building Council (PWB) champions this mission, creating opportunities for women to learn, lead, and succeed. PWB events throughout the year allow our members to connect, build expertise and grow both professionally and personally. By connecting experienced professionals with the next generation of talent, PWB helps women gain the confidence, skills, and guidance they need to rise into leadership and thrive in their careers.

One of the most significant benefits of female mentorship is the opportunity to create a network of resources. Women mentors can offer unique perspectives based on their experiences, providing mentees with advice tailored to the challenges they face. This network not only fosters professional growth but also creates a sense of community that encourages women to support one another within the confines of a predominantly male industry.

Helping women make meaningful and relevant connections is of the utmost importance to the PWB. The third cohort of the nationally recognized and award-winning Professional Women in Building Mentorship Program wrapped up on July 31 with 12 successful pairings. These relationships have been transformative and resulted in lasting bonds.

When asked “What was one of the most valuable parts of the mentoring experience?”, one third cohort participant stated, “The most valuable part of the PWB Mentorship Program has been the connections I’ve built with more industry professionals. Every mentee in the program is eager to grow, and every mentor is genuinely invested in supporting that growth.”

Another mentee from the third cohort perfectly summarized her experience in the program with, “My mentor exposed me to different networking opportunities and guided me on how to market my individual self. By far though, getting to know her was the most valuable part of the journey. She is amazing, and I’m so happy we met. We plan to continue beyond the program.”

Mentorship extends far beyond one-on-one connections—it creates a lasting ripple effect. When women see strong role models thriving within the PWB community, they’re motivated to chase their own goals with confidence and purpose. By celebrating the achievements of women in the industry, PWB not only empowers its members today, but also inspires and clears the path for the next generation of female leaders.

The fourth cohort of the PWB Mentorship Program will kick off in early 2026 with a mandatory speed-pairing event January 16 for confirmed participants. The program itself is a six-month commitment and will run from early February to July 31 of 2026.

PWB is now seeking both mentors and mentees who are passionate about making an impact, developing a support network and growing both professionally and personally.
