Welcome Seble Worede, GHBA’s Division and Remodelers Council Manager and the newest member of Team GHBA. Seble will be working to support the Bay Area Builders Association (BABA), the Northern Counties Builders and Developers Division (NCBDD), the Remodelers Council (RMC) and the Young Professionals Committee (YP). In her role, she will help facilitate events and programming for the groups, provide the primary point of contact for meetings and events and help carry out the wishes of the respective board leaders and committee chair.

GHBA CEO, Aimee Bertrand interviewed Seble, to help members get to know her better.

Aimee Bertrand (AB): Where did you grow up?

Seble Worede (SW): I grew up in Las Vegas from 1-12 years old and then moved to Nashville from 12-18 years old. I have fond memories of my childhood while in Las Vegas but my teenage years in Nashville really shaped me and who I am.

AB: Tell us about your work before joining GHBA. What projects are you particularly proud of?

SW: I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to work in the nonprofit sector for 5+ years which has allowed me to participate in amazing projects over the years. If I had to choose one, it would be attending as a speaker for the International Day of Tolerance at the United Nations with our ASEZ team. We were there to discuss the important topics of Human Rights and our team focused on Women’s Rights in the Workplace. We were joined by 850 delegates from around the world. It was such an amazing experience to be part of that event and continue to build a partnership with the UN.

AB: What made you decide to come to work for GHBA?

SW: What made me decide to join GHBA was how closely it fit with my professional experience working for nonprofits and managing multiple projects simultaneously. I found the mission of GHBA aligning with my own values and other similarities that are important to me to invest in. Also, after meeting with Aimee and some of the council and division leaders, I found comfort in the relationships built here and it excites me to have the opportunity to join an association like this one.

AB: What events or projects are you looking forward to working on with Team GHBA and why?

SW: I have to say all of them, since joining on I have seen some flyers for upcoming events and I’m excited to get involved with the process of managing these projects.

AB: Do you have any pets?

SW: No but I want one! I wish I had a little puppy to play with and take care of, so if anyone has any information about puppy adoptions, please let me know!

AB: What do you do when you are away from the office? (Any hobbies, talents, interests?)

SW: Since I moved to Houston from California, I have made it my personal mission to get familiar with the city and find adventures wherever I go. I love to try new restaurants, art exhibitions, parks, and new concept spaces that are opening everywhere. I also love going to karaoke with friends and family, so I will have to plan a team event there sometime soon!

AB: What is your go-to restaurant recommendation for out-of-town guests?

SW: I have to say Marmo! I love the service, food, ambiance, and the pianist is amazing! I must make a guides list of all the places I have tried and recommend to others.

Please stop by and meet Seble – and ask her about her favorite karaoke songs – at an upcoming event, meeting or whenever you are in the GHBA office!
