Article by Aimee Bertrand, GHBA Executive Vice President and CEO

Grace Mobley joined TEAM GHBA at the beginning of September. As the new government affairs administrator, her responsibilities include supporting the Developers Council, Volume Builders Committee and Speed Selling Committee, Government Affairs Committee and HOME-PAC, as well as the GHBA Board of Directors. GHBA CEO Aimee Bertrand sat down with Grace to ask a few questions to help members get to know her!
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Fannett, Texas, just outside Beaumont, Texas. I was fortunate to grow up next door to my grandparents and just a few minutes away from other close family members. I lived there until I was seventeen and then again while attending Lamar University.

Tell us about your work before joining GHBA. What projects are you particularly proud of?
Before joining GHBA, I was in my final semester of college and working as a Legislative Aide for Representative John McQueeney through the Texas Legislative Internship Program. I graduated in May 2025 with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Economics. During the internship, I was particularly proud of solving constituent casework while juggling multiple responsibilities in a high-pressure, high-stakes environment.
Do you have a favorite memory from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood is going to the beach in Florida with my family on summer vacation. I loved swimming, beach combing, and fishing all day!
Did you ever take a woodshop-type class in school?
I never took a woodshop class in school, but I assisted my dad with some of his home improvement projects growing up. I helped him build a playset, install a fence, and used his bandsaw to make figurines.
What made you decide to come to work for GHBA?
I heard great things about the organization from many individuals in the area and after interviewing, it was clear that GHBA has a wonderful team. I felt that I could learn much from GHBA about leadership, collaboration, and advocacy, which would allow me to grow professionally.
What events or projects are you looking forward to working on with the GHBA Team and why?
I am sincerely looking forward to working with the GHBA team on Developers Council, Government Affairs Committee, Volume Builders Committee, and HOME-PAC Committee so that I can learn more about the issues affecting the residential building industry directly from members. I am excited to advocate for our membership on these issues when meeting with local public leadership.
Do you have any pets?
I have a cat named Dash, which is short for Dashboard. I rescued her when she was a kitten and crawled into the dashboard of my car. It took almost an entire day to get her out, but now she’s a wonderful addition to my life!
What do you do when you are away from the office?
When I am away from the office, I like to play the piano, draw, and crochet and enjoy doing anything outdoors when I have the opportunity, such as hiking or fishing. I also spend much of my time with family and friends.
What is your go to restaurant recommendation for guests from out-of-town?
My go-to Beaumont restaurant recommendation for guests from out-of-town is Tokyo’s. My favorite order is California rolls, fried rice, and onion soup. The food is delicious and reasonably priced.
Is there anything else you would like to share with our members?
I am so excited to be here and looking forward to meeting everyone and attending all the events!
We are thrilled to have Grace as part of the GHBA team. Next time you are in the building, stop by and say hello! Her office is located on the second floor in the government affairs suite, where she shares space with our Government Affairs Director Cody Miller, Communications Director Morgan Peters and our intern! Grace has also been actively assisting with registration at a number of off site GHBA events.
