Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) members have been working to help rebuild Houston following the devastating impact of Hurricane Beryl. On Wednesday, July 17, GHBA members and HomeAid Houston volunteers distributed essential recovery supplies — including more than 38,000 bottles of water, 3,556 batteries, 200 flashlights, gloves and extension cords — to hundreds of Houstonians affected by the storm and nonprofit organizations actively involved in recovery initiatives. Hosted by Builders FirstSource and MITER Brands, the two companies partnered to collect, deliver the supplies and manage the six-hour event.

“Following the devastating impact of Hurricane Beryl to the Houston community, BFS Houston Custom Windows was honored to partner with MITER Brands and the GHBA,” Slade Sloan, general manager of the Custom Windows Division for BFS Houston Custom Windows said. “We are deeply committed to serving, rebuilding and restoring our city as quickly as possible!”

Builders FirstSource and MITER trucks traveled thousands of miles to bring supplies to the event in Houston.

“Compassion is at the core of what we do at MITER Brands,” Matt DeSoto president and CEO of MITER Brands said. “Not only is it important to us as a company to help people protect their homes and families before and during a storm, but to also serve as a reliable ally post-storm. It is our goal to aid in the rebuilding of homes and communities, as well as support the well-being of individuals impacted by the storm. We are incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Builders FirstSource and the Greater Houston Builders Association to carry out this mission and help many Houstonians in need.”

When natural disasters strike, homeowners often bear the brunt of the impact. In the case of Hurricane Beryl, millions across the Houston region were left without power. Local home builders and their partners frequently rise to the occasion, providing much-needed support through volunteer contributions, donations and restoration efforts.

“We were eager to support when Builders FirstSource and MITER Brands came to us about hosting a disaster recovery distribution,” Aimee Bertrand, CEO of GHBA said. “We are grateful to our homebuilding members and HomeAid Houston for swiftly springing into action to help us distribute these much-needed supplies to the community.”

The GHBA was honored to serve as the host location, and we extend our deepest appreciation to the dozens of GHBA members and HomeAid volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to distribute supplies, ensuring the drive-through’s success.
