We’re proud to announce that the GHBA has received a national Award of Excellence from the Executive Officers Council (EOC) of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The award recognized the GHBA Custom Builders Council’s impactful Mental Health Awareness Campaign as the “Best Membership Event” of the year.

Caroline Broderick, ProRemodeler Magazine, and Chris Bolio, Alair Homes, speak at the Custom Builders Council Mental Health Luncheon.

This prestigious honor celebrates the GHBA’s commitment to supporting the mental well-being of our members and industry partners. From honest conversations to educational sessions and awareness efforts, the campaign shines a light on the real challenges faced in our industry and encourages connection, support, and openness.

The mental health program was inspired by a 2023 article in ProRemodeler Magazine, “This Story is About You,” that included a profile on GHBA member, Chris Bolio of Alair Homes. Both Bolio and the article’s author, Caroline Broderick, participated in the frank discussion on mental health needs and resources for those in homebuilding and construction.

GHBA created a website chock full of resources relative to mental health and wellbeing at ghba.org/mentalhealth/, to accompany the program. You can even watch video from the candid discussion at the Custom Builders Council luncheon, on the mental health resource page.

The award will be formally recognized at NAHB’s Association Management Conference this August, with our campaign highlighted as a model for other HBAs nationwide.

Congratulations to the Custom Builders Council for leading this important initiative! Learn more and explore resources at ghba.org/mentalhealth.
