Student honorees, their parents and the Scholarship Committee gather at GHBA’s 2023 Mid-Year Forecast luncheon for the official check presentation.

The GHBA awards student scholarships each year through generous contributions from GHBA members and its councils. Eligible recipients are college-bound children of association members, and participants in official GHBA Workforce Partner Programs. Thanks to our incredibly generous donors, $52,000 was raised for 2023 scholarships. Thirteen deserving students received $4,000 each toward post-high school studies.

Donations of $4,000 or more are honored with a named scholarship in their honor. Many of these individuals and companies step up year after year to donate, and we are so grateful for your ongoing support.

A huge thank you to Jeff Hunt, with Jeff Hunt Construction, who donated a scholarship for the tenth year in a row! Fun fact about Jeff: while attending Texas A&M, Jeff himself was a recipient of a GHBA Scholarship.

Newmark Homes established the “Will Ulrich Memorial Scholarship” nine years ago, which was provided by the generous donations from the employees of Newmark Homes in his memory.

Don Klein and Chesmar Homes generously donated two scholarships for the fifth year in a row, and Allpoints Surveying contributed at the named level for the fourth year. Builder’s Choice is a three-time donor. Anglia Homes and the Manners/Coole Foundation donated for the second year, with four scholarships presented this year.

In honor of the late Carl J. Stephens of Stephens, Tingley & Associates, his friends and colleagues raised more than $60,000 to create a memorial scholarship fund in his name that will be awarded over the next several years – with two awarded for 2023.

New this year, ACES Builders Warranty donated a scholarship in memory of their founder, Max Hoyt. Max was a strong advocate for the homebuilding industry and served for nearly 20 years as the CEO for the GHBA.
