Chesmar Homes has joined the 2017 GHBA Benefit Homes team as the builder of its fifth home for this 37-year-old charity fundraiser. Chesmar, led by President Scott Merovitch, will donate the construction management of its Poplar Plan in Elyson on a lot donated by the developer, Newland Communities.
Chesmar began its involvement with the Benefit Homes Project as a builder that donated construction management for four different homes over several years. The company has also chaired the Benefit Homes Project for a total of six years.
“Chesmar and the ‘Chesmarian’ team have shown their deep commitment to giving back to the community through various charitable organizations. Both Don Klein and Scott Merovitch have led the Benefit Homes team to raise valuable funds for local charities. GHBA is grateful and honored to have them as part of the team for 2017.”Terry Swenson, PR Director, GHBA

About Chesmar Homes
Chesmar Homes was founded in 2005 by Houston area industry professionals, making its way into the market building homes for first time and move-up buyers in top tier communities like Cinco Ranch and The Woodlands.
With proven success under its belt in Houston, a Central Texas division was added in 2009 and soon Chesmar became a recognized leader in both market areas. With those foundations in place, the leadership of Chesmar Homes pressed to establish operations in Dallas/Ft. Worth and Austin. The rest is history, Chesmar history!
Chesmar Homes is known for its unique home plans, offering today’s savvy buyers the functionality and features they desire including energy efficiency. Chesmar uses cutting-edge building science to ensure high performance in each home, resulting in a comfortable, more durable home with lower operating costs for homeowners.
Chesmar Homes has garnered achievements and industry awards along the way, such as being awarded Builder of the Year by the Greater Houston Builders Association, named a Top Ten Workplace, recipient of several Greater San Antonio Builders Association Summit Awards, as well as being named to the Builder Magazine, BUILDER 100 list of the nation’s top homebuilders.
Receiving awards is an honor, but Chesmar seeks first to build homes of quality in communities where people want to live, while providing extraordinary customer service as well as sustaining a culture for its associates that is positive, rewarding and fun. Key to that culture is the company’s efforts to offer support where it is needed
and give back to the community. That’s the Chesmar Way!
Elyson is the fifth and newest community in the Katy Independent School District by Newland Communities, the largest private developer of planned residential and urban mixed-use communities in the United States. Located at Grand Parkway and FM 529, approximately midway between I-10 West and U.S. 290 West, this 3,642-acre community will be home to 6,000 families and 750 acres of recreational amenities and natural open spaces when completed.
“The team of Chesmar Homes and Newland Communities is a combination of two professional organizations committed to providing a superior quality of life. When this home is sold, it will be a win for both the charities and the lucky homebuyer. The entire Benefit Homes team is excited to get construction rolling!” Will Holder, Chairman, Benefit Homes Project
