The Greater Houston Builders Association’s 2025 Future Homebuilders LEGO™ Competition once again proved that the love of building knows no age limit. From imaginative creations crafted by three-year-olds to more mature and intricate designs by participants as seasoned as 55 years old, this year’s competition celebrated creativity, hard work and the joy of building in all its forms. Designed to introduce young minds to the possibilities of a career in homebuilding, the Future Homebuilders LEGO™ Competition serves as an early spark, inviting kids and students who enjoy building to explore where that passion could lead. At the same time, we know that creativity doesn’t fade with age, so the competition offers a welcoming space for adults who are young at heart and still find joy in snapping together LEGO™ bricks.
This year’s entries reflected that spirit beautifully. We were impressed by the level of detail, problem-solving and storytelling demonstrated across all age categories. Whether it was a colorful first-time build or a thoughtfully engineered structure, each submission showcased the pride that comes from creating something with your own hands.
The competition’s mission closely mirrors the real-world journey of many industry professionals, including GHBA’s 2026 President, Chris Bolio of Alair Homes. Bolio’s passion for building, which may very well have started with LEGO™ bricks, has grown into a career defined by craftsmanship, integrity and purpose. Today, that early curiosity has evolved into a lifetime of designing and constructing exceptional homes, proof that small building blocks can lead to big futures.
The success of the 2025 competition would not have been possible without the generous support of its sponsors, whose work reflects the same commitment to quality and excellence that the competition seeks to inspire.
“At French Inspection, we believe strong foundations matter. Whether it’s in a home or in a young person’s future,” Dean French with French Inspection said. “Supporting this competition allows us to encourage curiosity, responsibility and a respect for building safely and correctly from the very beginning.”
Each sponsor played a vital role in making this year’s event possible. Allied Truss specializes in the design and manufacturing of floor and roof trusses that quite literally support the structures we live and work in every day.
“Great buildings start with smart design and teamwork,” Jonathan Kindle with Allied Truss said. “This competition reflects the same principles we use in our work, planning, precision and creativity. We’re proud to support an initiative that introduces those ideas in such a fun and accessible way.”
Also lending their support was Creekstone Architecture, a full-service architectural design and services firm whose work blends creativity, function and vision to shape the spaces people call home.
“Seeing participants of all ages turn imagination into LEGO™ creations is exactly why this work matters,” Eugene Giles with Creekstone Architecture said. “We’re excited to encourage the next generation of designers, builders, and dreamers.”
