Compaction verification is required for projects in which the foundation design requires compaction to be a specific density. This Special Inspection requirement can be met in the form of a letter from the design professional or a report from an approved testing lab. The letter or report does not have to be filed with the City of Houston. However, the compaction (letter or report) shall be verified on site by the Structural Inspector before placement of concrete. This is in accorance with Section 1705.6 of the 2012 Building Code.
