Ian P. Faria is the Houston Office Managing Partner at Bradley, a national law firm providing business clients around the world with a full suite of legal services in dozens of industries and practice areas. As a member of the firm’s Construction Practice Group, Ian has extensive experience in the realm of construction and real estate, concentrating primarily on commercial, residential, and industrial construction law. His experience in claims, workouts, trials (bench and jury), and arbitrations encompass a wide range of projects, including highways and bridges, public works projects, commercial and retail construction, industrial and warehouse facilities, residential apartment complexes, pipelines, and drilling sites. He has handled matters of every size, from homeowner claims to multimillion- and multibillion-dollar commercial and industrial projects. Ian represents developers, contractors and subcontractors, homebuilders, homeowners, business owners, and individuals in disputes, OSHA compliance, and investigations.

Ian earned his J.D. from South Texas College of Law. A natural problem solver, he became an attorney to unravel the largest issues people and businesses face. As a young lawyer, he was fascinated by the construction industry because of how fundamental it is to our society, especially our local communities. “You literally change the landscape and bring innovation,” he said. His favorite part, however, is the people. “Folks in the construction industry are down-to-earth, real people who want to make an impact not only in their own lives but in the lives of others,” he added.

Outside the law firm, Ian enjoys hunting, traveling and college football. His favorite hobby is spending time with his kids, two daughters and a son, and cheering them on in football and lacrosse. However, he noted the best part of 2020 has been the opportunity to have more family dinners together because of no sports practices or games.

As a member of and general counsel for the Greater Houston Builders Association, Ian strives to improve the membership’s legal education and address the common issues they face. In addition to his leadership at GHBA, he is the legal advisor for Operation FINALLY HOME, a nonprofit 501(c) that provides custom-made, mortgage-free homes to wounded and disabled veterans and the widows of fallen soldiers. He was involved in founding the organization, which has now completed more than 135 homes in 17 states across the country. Ian is also a member of the Texas Association of Builders, National Association of Home Builders and the Bay Area Builders Association and serves on the State Bar of Texas Construction Law Section Governing Committee.

With the considerable amount of personal and professional accomplishments Ian has under his belt, he said the most important lesson he’s learned is to listen. “As an advocate, you learn more and you reach an understanding and resolution by listening to your opposition and your client,” he said.
