Hula-va Success: Luau Membership Drive Beats Expectations with 71 Recruits

GHBA’s second membership drive of 2023 was held on August 9 serving up high attendance with more than 50 member participants rotating throughout the day. In true GHBA form, camaraderie and calls filled the building during our collaboration for success.

It was our first-ever themed drive, all in part to Retention Chair Chris Hawkins with Bayou City Risk. His idea to theme it up “luau style” was a smashing hit! It made for the perfect backdrop for our committee and fellow members to hit the phones.

The luau drive was filled with giveaways on the half hour, relationship building, sweets, and fabulous food. The ribs were my fave—hot off the grill that fell right off the bone. And yet again, the ones to fuel the crew were none other than Chris Hawkins, Bayou City Risk; and Jeremy Linzer, Builders Post Tension (aka Greg Tomlinson). Your donation, dedication, and hard work are beyond appreciated!

Recruiting new members is essential to any organization and no one knows that better than our very own, Mike Dishberger, dedicated 2023 GHBA president. He has been involved with GHBA’s Membership Committee and planning the drive for which we are grateful. Mike was all about sprucing it up and making it fun while personally encouraging builders to join us. Mike kicked off the drive with a few Spikes of his own and cheered us on the entire day. Fun fact… Mike has more than 400 Lifetime Spikes, with that number increasing each year.

With grand ideas come extra responsibilities and our amazing membership staff, Cynthia Fagan, Vilma Bonilla, McKenzie King, and Maria Hernandez delivered. Thank you, ladies, for the phenomenal drive!

Drum roll please … as of August 31, we exceeded our goal of 60 new members, with a grand total of 71. Wow! Aloha and welcome to all our new members! We’re so pleased to have you on our team.
