The Greater Houston Builders Association is proud to announce that HistoryMaker Homes, a Benefit Homes partner, recently presented a check for $157,000 to the GHBA that reflected funds raised from the sale of their charity build.

Each year two homes are built for the Benefit Homes Project with donated materials, labor and services by GHBA members. The builder donates construction management, and the developer donates the homesite. The homes are sold at market value and proceeds are presented to two local charities, HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home. The HistoryMaker Benefit home was built in Sierra Vista, a Land Tejas community.

“It was an exciting day to be able to present this check to the association. Raising money for two valuable charities within our community fits the HistoryMaker commitment to give back by doing what we do best, building homes. We are thrilled that HomeAid and Operation Finally Home will be able to apply their funds toward bettering the lives of the homeless of Houston and wounded veterans returning from active duty.

Dozens of companies donated to the construction, from the site work through construction and even the closing. “The vendors and suppliers are key to the success of the Benefit Homes Project,” added Patrick Mayhan, Benefit Homes chair. “Most of them sign on to build a Benefit Home every year, and that is a reflection of the generous nature of the residential homebuilding industry. We can’t thank Mickey, HistoryMaker and Land Tejas enough for their philanthropic commitment.”

With the official closing of this Benefit Home, the charity fundraiser has raised over $12 million.
