GHBA would like to congratulate our very own Aimee Bertrand, executive vice president and CEO of the Greater Houston Builders Association, who was recently honored with the David Lloyd New Executive Officer Award from the Executive Officers Council (EOC) of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) located in Washington, D.C. The council represents the staff executives who manage the more than 650 state and local home builders associations that comprise NAHB.

This award is in honor of the late David Lloyd, executive officer of the Home Builders and Contractors Association of Palm Beach. It is presented to an executive officer who has served no more than three years in an association management position, but who is judged to have made major contributions to the profession during that time.

“This award is a testament to the members of the GHBA, who have welcomed me and supported our professional staff at the association,” Aimee said. “What a privilege it is to serve such a dedicated community of association members and help carry out their wishes. The honor of receiving the New Executive Officer Award from NAHB’s EOC is truly the icing on the cake to a great start in my work to serve GHBA.”

Aimee’s dedication and commitment to this industry serves as an inspirational how-to for other executive officers striving for excellence in association management.

In Aimee’s first 18 months with GHBA, the association established a new Professional Women in Building Council and enhanced workforce efforts, while working to re-engage with members following COVID. Despite adopting a deficit budget in 2021, Aimee’s first year with the organization, the association defied financial expectations and ended the year in the black.

“A new Executive Officer goes through a series of different phases throughout the beginning of their career, and it takes a special person to navigate all of these with poise and professionalism.” said Brian Miller, president of the NAHB Executive Officers Council and executive vice president of the Building Industry Association of Northern Kentucky. “Aimee has approached these early stages of her career with great outcomes as a new executive officer. The roots she is putting down at her local association and the results of her growing into her role is worthy of earning the David Lloyd New Executive Officer Award. Her association has in its midst, a rising star and her members should rejoice and cherish her as an outstanding professional among her peers.”

Aimee’s other commitments and contributions prior to joining the GHBA include serving as deputy director of intergovernmental and global affairs for Harris County, Texas, serving as director of community engagement and media for the Houston Apartment Association, and holding the position of chief of staff for her Houston City Council member. Aimee is a lifelong Houstonian and an active supporter of several organizations, including: the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council, West Houston Leadership Institute, HomeAid Houston, Houston Community College Chancellor’s Business Champions Council, Texas Association of Builders’ Executive Officers Council, BuildStrong Academy of Houston powered by the Home Builders Institute, WorkTexas and Pink Granite Foundation.

The GHBA staff, board of directors and members congratulate Aimee on receiving this prestigious award and look forward to many years of her dedication, loyalty, creativity and inspiring leadership!
