On Thursday, December 5, board of director members of the Greater Houston Builders Association’s Sales & Marketing Council (SMC) donated essential items to Isaiah 117 House, an organization that provides a comforting home for children who are removed from their homes out of concern for their safety awaiting placement with another family or foster care. In coordination with HomeAid Houston and Executive Director Carole Brady, SMC donated clothes, bottles, formula, beds, books, blankets, puzzles, activity toys and more for its “Give Love Drive.”
When children are removed from their homes out of concern for their safety, they are usually brought to a child welfare services office to await placement. This wait can be a few hours to several days. These children often have nothing with them and are scared, lonely, hungry and in dirty clothing. Because of GHBA member-owned organizations such as the Chesmar Homes Foundation, these children now have a safe and comfortable home to go to before their next step. And, because of the initiatives such as SMC’s charity drive, these children also have essential items that will make their time in these homes a little more enjoyable. Chesmar Homes’ Steve Smith was the builder captain on the project and the lot was donated by a generous couple named Mr. And Mrs. Henry Lee III.
The SMC board of directors would like to extend its appreciation and gratitude to everyone who donated to this year’s community service project. The SMC board is committed to supporting Isaiah 117 House as part of its philanthropic outreach commitment to the Greater Houston community.
