Rally Day 2025: One for the Books!

Ten years from now, when we look back on past Rally Days, the first thing people will likely say about 2025 is, “Oh, that was the year it rained on us.” And rain it did—pretty sure my suit is still damp. But I hope we also remember it as the year we brought our largest group yet, including more first-time attendees than ever before, despite the less-than-ideal weather. More importantly, I hope we remember it as the year we set a record for the most meetings with our Houston-area legislators—46 meetings led by 20 dedicated team captains.

Beyond the rain and record-breaking attendance, what truly made Rally Day 2025 stand out was the impact we made in Austin.

GHBA was honored by the Texas Association of Builders (TAB) for bringing the largest delegation to Rally Day 2025 in Austin—over 175 members strong!

The GHBA showed up strong, bringing 175+ members to Texas Association of Builders’ Rally Day—the largest delegation among the 25 local builder associations across the state. We met with legislators and their staff to discuss key issues affecting the homebuilding industry and how they can support legislation that protects home affordability. Some of the major topics we covered included impact fees, moratoriums, and local government authority. While it’s still early in the legislative session, it was the perfect time to start planting the seeds for meaningful action.

But advocacy doesn’t stop in Austin. There are many ways to stay engaged locally—whether it’s attending city and county meetings, tuning into GHBA’s Government Affairs Committee, or joining HOME-PAC. Our expansive region covers 12 counties, with members working across all of them. There is strength in numbers, and collaboration makes a real difference.
