It has come to our attention that GHBA may have celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the PRISM Awards early. The 40th anniversary of PRISM was celebrated in 2015, which led to the Sales and Marketing Council’s leadership to theme the 2025 PRISM awards as the celebration of the “Solid Gold” 50th anniversary of the PRISM Awards.
In light of this information, the GHBA staff undertook an extensive review of the GHBA archives and found that the original PRISM celebration – honoring achievements of builders in 1976 – was held on January 15, 1977 at the Houston Oaks Hotel.
The celebration of the 50th anniversary was wholehearted and a wonderful event thanks to your support. While the awards were almost in their 50th year, the presentation of the awards in 2025 was actually held for the 48th year. We will continue to recognize 2025’s PRISM as that “solid gold” 50th anniversary celebration, and will work to improve our vetting of anniversary dates for all events going forward. The GHBA has also updated the Sales and Marketing Council’s records so this error is not repeated in all future PRISM anniversary celebrations.
