Meet Rebecca Kister Full, GHBA’s new division and Remodelers Council manager. Rebecca joined the GHBA team in September, and will be the staff liaison for the Bay Area Builders Association (BABA), the Northern Counties Builders & Developers Division (NCBDD), and the Remodelers Council.
GHBA CEO, Aimee Bertrand, asked Rebecca a few important questions to help GHBA members get to know her better.
Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Pasadena, Texas, and I’m still living in the same house I called home as a child! It’s incredibly special to start my own family in the place where I grew up. I went to Deer Park schools and then to Houston Christian University. Even though I’m a small-town girl at heart, I’ve got a big city love for Houston. It’s like having the best of both worlds!
Tell us about your work before joining GHBA. What projects are you particularly proud of?
Before joining GHBA, I spent two and a half years as the marketing director for Sandcastle Homes, where I worked alongside GHBA Past President Mike Dishberger.
One project I’m especially proud of was organizing a name-changing event for a new development. We renamed a street to Lynette Cove Place in honor of a beloved former employee who had passed away from cancer. Being involved in that touching ceremony and seeing her family’s heartfelt reaction was truly rewarding.
During my time at Sandcastle Homes, I reached several key milestones: I obtained my real estate license, was named a top three finalist for the Texas Association of Builders Marketing Professional of the Year Award for 2024, and my sales brochure earned recognition as a top two finalist for the Star Awards at the Sunbelt Builders Show. Additionally, I actively participated in the GHBA Professional Women in Building Council (PWB) and recently graduated from their mentorship program as a mentee.
My deep passion for the homebuilding industry and my involvement with GHBA continue to drive me. I’m excited to be part of such an exceptional organization and to contribute to this vibrant and supportive community.
Do you have a favorite memory from childhood?
One of my favorite childhood memories is our weekend tradition of visiting open houses with my grandparents and my mom. We never intended to buy; we just loved dreaming up stories about each place we visited. Little did I know that years later, I’d turn that playful pastime into a career with GHBA. It feels like those childhood dreams have truly come to life!
What made you decide to come to work for GHBA?
I decided to work for GHBA because I’ve always admired the organization’s dedication to the homebuilding industry and the Houston community. I was a member for two and a half years before joining the team, and my favorite part was always being involved with GHBA, especially through PWB. The support and collaboration within PWB inspired me to get even more involved. GHBA’s commitment to fostering innovation, advocacy, and growth in the industry really resonates with me, and it’s a perfect fit for my passion for real estate and desire to contribute to Houston’s thriving housing market.
What events or projects are you looking forward to working on with the GHBA Team and why?
I’m really looking forward to some exciting projects and events with the GHBA Team! For the Remodelers Council, I can’t wait to plan educational sessions and fun networking events that help our members grow and connect. Over in the Northern Counties Builders and Developers Division, I’m excited to tackle local industry challenges and build strong partnerships. And of course, the BABA Fishing Tournament is always a favorite—it’s a great mix of fun and community building. Lastly, working with the Young Professionals is super rewarding. It’s amazing to see the next generation of leaders getting involved, and I love being part of that journey. All in all, I’m excited about creating more opportunities for growth, connection, and success within our industry!
Do you have any pets?
Yes, I have two dogs! My oldest fur baby is a nine-year-old pit bull/heeler mix who’s as loyal and loving as they come. And then there’s my youngest, a seven-month-old rescue with a mix of German shepherd and pit bull. She’s a bundle of energy and keeps us on our toes!
What do you do when you are away from the office?
When I’m away from the office, I’m usually immersed in my passion for photography. I’ve been a professional photographer since 2015, and I love capturing moments through my lens. But that’s not all—I’m also dedicated to being the best aunt ever to my two amazing goddaughters, ages 7 and 4. Whether it’s a photo shoot or a fun-filled day with them, I’m all about making the most of every moment!
What is your go-to restaurant recommendation for out-of-town guests?
I’m a huge foodie! My husband and I love discovering hidden gems around Houston. Some of our go-to spots are The Taco Stand for the best tacos, Eighth Row Flint for great drinks and snacks, and Blue Sushi Sake Grill for fantastic sushi. Sushi Yoto in Pasadena is another favorite—it’s the closest thing we’ve found to the incredible food we had in Japan when we went there for our honeymoon in May. We’re really into Mexican and Japanese food, so if you’re ever in town, these spots are worth checking out!
Is there anything else you would like to share with our members?
I’d love to share how thrilled I am to be a part of GHBA! I’m really looking forward to connecting with everyone and getting involved in all the exciting projects and events. If you ever find yourself at the GHBA office, make sure to stop by the nook upstairs—my office is there, and I’d love to meet you and chat.
