KK: I was born and raised in San Antonio.
Tell us about your work before joining GHBA. What projects are you particularly proud of?
I was a teacher and coach for the last seven years in the Houston area. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to work with middle and high school students and see them grow, both academically and athletically, throughout those years.
Do you have a favorite memory from childhood?
My favorite memory from my childhood is getting our first dog, Trudy! My brother and I convinced my mom that we were just going to go to the Humane Society to look at the animals but ended up coming home with a two-year-old chihuahua terrier mix. She was the best childhood dog and ended up coming to live with me for a couple years at Texas A&M!
What made you decide to come to work for GHBA?
Having worked in education, I love that this position will give me the opportunity to blend my passion for education and customer service. Throughout the interview process, everybody I interacted with from GHBA employees to GHBA members were very welcoming as well.
What events or projects are you looking forward to working on with Team GHBA, and why?
I’m excited to partner with local school districts and colleges to grow the CTE programs and opportunities that are available to students and young adults wanting to go into the field.
Do you have any pets?
I have one dog, Ellie. She’s the sweetest dog that I adopted from the San Antonio pound.
What do you do when you are away from the office? Any hobbies, talents, interests?
I love to travel! I have a goal of going to all 50 states. I also enjoy reading and cooking.
What is your go-to restaurant recommendation for out-of-town guests?
There are so many good restaurants in Houston, and I have a list of so many places I still want to try. For Chinese food, I love Rice Box. B.B. Lemon is great for brunch!
