The Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) recently gathered for its 2026 Installation Celebration. The evening was filled with gratitude, recognition, and the unmistakable feeling of “Coming Home.” Hosted at the Alair Homes office, the space was beautifully transformed into a warm, inviting venue where members could reconnect, celebrate, and officially welcome incoming GHBA President Chris Bolio of Alair Homes and the 2026 board of directors.

With longtime friends, industry partners, and GHBA leaders all under one roof, the evening served as a reminder of what makes this association special: a community built on relationships, service, and a shared commitment to the homebuilding industry in Greater Houston.

Emceed by Rocky Flores, the program included recognition of distinguished elected officials and past GHBA presidents in attendance, along with heartfelt sponsor appreciation for the many companies that helped bring the event to life. Guests enjoyed a festive atmosphere that blended celebration with tradition, honoring the year behind us while setting the stage for the year ahead. A big thank you goes to title sponsor, Lincoln Jacob Construction.

A highlight of the evening was the farewell to outgoing 2025 GHBA President Adam Aschmann of Tilson Home Corporation. Aschmann was recognized for his year of service and presented with meaningful keepsakes commemorating his term, including a Past President’s plaque, pin, jacket, and a scrapbook filled with memories from a year that moved quickly, but left a lasting impact.

In his remarks, Aschmann reflected on the heart of the industry and the people who power it. He recognized the dedication of GHBA members across every category—builders, developers, remodelers, and associates—and reminded the room that what we create is more than a product. It’s a home. A place where life happens. A place where families grow. A place where memories are made.

The installation of the 2026 GHBA Board of Directors was administered by National Association of Homebuilders Second Vice Chairman Bob Peterson. Following the oath of office, Peterson officially swore in Chris Bolio as GHBA president, marking the beginning of a new year of leadership for the association. Peterson also recognized Bolio’s impressive industry involvement, including his service as a past president of GHBA’s Custom Builders Council, his recognition as a Texas Association of Builders Excellence Under 45 Award recipient, and his passion for helping strengthen the industry through meaningful conversation, connection, and leadership.

Bolio was joined on stage by his family, and the moment carried special significance as the GHBA President’s Pin was presented—an 85-year tradition that continues to represent the strength, legacy, and forward momentum of the association.

“Of the Year” Award Winners

Each year, GHBA recognizes exceptional members and companies that demonstrate leadership, service, and commitment to the industry. A team of judges composed of the last five award recipients, along with the GHBA president and CEO, selects the winners. Awards were presented by outgoing president Adam Aschmann and title sponsor Sonora Storm with Lincoln Jacob Construction.

The 2025 “Of the Year” winners are:

Remodeler of the Year: Paul Canady and George Gomez, Res Com Custom Builders

As business partners and supporters of the GHBA, Paul and George have made a lasting impact through hands-on involvement and leadership across multiple councils. Their dedication to the annual Remodelers Council Garage Sale helps power one of GHBA’s most meaningful charitable traditions, and their work continues to elevate the Res Com name across the industry. In 2026, George will serve as Custom Builders Council president, while Paul will serve as secretary/treasurer and continue leading key initiatives that support the council’s success.

Developer of the Year: Bob Douglas, Johnson Development Corporation

Bob Douglas has devoted decades of leadership and support to GHBA and the region’s homebuilding industry. He is frequently called on to share insight and expertise, and his advocacy on key issues such as the Conroe water moratorium has helped strengthen the industry’s voice and influence across the region.

Custom Builder of the Year: Zach Gavos, Keepsake Custom Homes

Zach Gavos has been a driving force behind the growth and momentum of the Bay Area Builders Association, and he will serve as BABA president in 2026. A past Custom Builders Council president, Zach also brings a unique perspective as both a custom builder and an associate member through his company Droplet Resources, which works to educate clients, the community and fellow builders about water conservation features that can be utilized in new and existing homes. His commitment to education, leadership, and innovation has made him a standout contributor at both the local and state level. Zach was also awarded the Excellence Under 45 Award by the Texas Association of Builders in 2025.

C.S. “Bud” Inscho Associate of the Year: David Castle, Ironwood Connection

David Castle exemplifies the spirit of service within GHBA. As the 2025 Associate Council president, he helped lead major initiatives including scholarship support, signature events, and workforce outreach efforts. A past Young Professional of the Year recipient, Castle continues to invest in the next generation of leaders while showing up consistently for the association and its mission.

Young Professional of the Year: Amanda McIntire, Highland Homes Houston LTD

Amanda McIntire has helped build an energized community of young professionals within GHBA, creating opportunities for professional growth and meaningful connection. As chair of the Young Professionals Committee, she expanded programming and participation in 2025, helping the group grow from two annual events in 2024 to four well-attended events in 2025. She will continue to chair the committee in 2026.

Builder of the Year: Perry Homes

Perry Homes has demonstrated strong support for GHBA through advocacy involvement and participation across key association initiatives. Their commitment extends beyond the industry as well, supporting workforce development and community advancement through partnerships and philanthropy, including continued support through the Perry Homes Foundation.

Al Brende Philanthropist of the Year: Mike Manners

This year, GHBA debuted a new award honoring exceptional charitable giving and community involvement in Greater Houston: the Al Brende Philanthropist of the Year Award, named in memory of longtime GHBA leader and industry philanthropist Al Brende of Land Tejas.

The inaugural recipient, Mike Manners of the Manners Coole Foundation and a past GHBA president, has been instrumental in supporting HomeAid Houston since its earliest days. Manners continues to lead with generosity and purpose, championing the belief that the homebuilding industry can—and should—play a role in strengthening the communities we serve. In 2025, Mike and his wife Vanessa also supported New Danville with a transformational gift to help expand services for individuals with intellectual disabilities, further reflecting the impact of a legacy built on giving.

A “Coming Home” Year Ahead for GHBA

As the evening came to a close, incoming President Chris Bolio shared his appreciation for the GHBA community and the support that makes the association thrive. The message was clear: GHBA’s strength isn’t just in the work we do—it’s in the people who show up, year after year, to lead, serve, and build something bigger than themselves.

In 2026, Bolio will focus on strengthening member engagement, supporting meaningful industry advocacy, and continuing to foster a culture of connection and leadership across all councils, committees, and divisions. His vision reflects both the legacy of the GHBA and the future it continues to build—together. Congratulations again to the 2025 award winners, and welcome to the 2026 GHBA leadership team.
