The City of Houston will launch a new version of its online development application portal, PlatTracker, on Monday, April 14, 2025. This updated system will replace the more than decade-old in-house platform and is designed to streamline the platting process for land planners, civil engineers, and surveyors. Key improvements include a modern, intuitive interface, enhanced search tools, personalized workspaces, cloud-based storage, and integration with external systems like payment processing and GIS. The system also continues to support public engagement by allowing applicants, agencies, and residents to track and comment on development proposals.
The new PlatTracker is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of the platting process and make it easier for professionals and the public alike to navigate and interact with development applications. We are grateful to the Planning Department for their work in bringing this long-awaited upgrade to life and for their ongoing efforts to make land development processes more efficient and accessible. Users should be aware of several important changes: draft applications will not carry over to the new system and must be recreated; organizations that have never submitted applications (Not-Engaged Organizations) must re-register; and user email addresses must be unique—duplicates will be adjusted. Additionally, street names reserved by Not-Engaged Organizations will not transfer, although those associated with submitted applications will migrate.
During the transition:
