Charities Receive Funds from Sale of GHBA Benefit Home

The Greater Houston Builders Association board members joined the beneficiaries of the Benefit Homes Project charity fundraiser at the official check presentation reflecting funds raised from the sale of a Chesmar Homes Benefit Home. The home was built in Toll Brothers’ community of NorthGrove.

Chesmar’s Scott Merovitch, city president/Houston and David Assid, Toll Brothers’ division president presented a check for nearly $250,000 to HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home. Carole Brady, executive director of HomeAid Houston and Lee Kirgan, vice president of project management for Operation Finally Home were on-hand to accept on behalf of the two charities who received proceeds from the sale of the home.

This is the sixth Benefit Home that Chesmar Homes has constructed. Chesmar constructed its 2,746 sq. ft. Mesquite Plan—a two-story design featuring four bedrooms with a fifth bedroom/study option, three full baths, walk-in closets, a game room, an island kitchen and a two-story open family room off the kitchen.

Each year two to three homes are built for the Benefit Homes Project. The materials, labor and services are donated by GHBA members. The homes are sold at market value and proceeds go to local charities. Since the project began 39 years ago, more than $11 million has been raised.

About the Community

NorthGrove is located off FM 2978 in Magnolia, Texas in southern Montgomery County. The community is conveniently located within minutes from The Woodlands while offering a more intimate small town feel. It is also just a short drive from major employers, shopping centers, al fresco dining, and cultural centers.
