The 2025 Houston’s Best PRISM Awards, hosted by the GHBA Sales & Marketing Council (SMC), sparkled even brighter than ever as the association marked the golden milestone—50 years of recognizing excellence in homebuilding. On October 4, the Royal Sonesta Hotel transformed into a dazzling “Solid Gold” tribute, complete with retro flair, a show-stopping performance, and an atmosphere that glittered with both nostalgia and excitement.
Guests arrived ready to celebrate in style, enjoying signature cocktails like the “Sundrop” martini and mingling in the lively Solid Gold Lounge before stepping into a ballroom glowing with golden décor. The evening was emceed by Fox 26 News anchor Melissa Wilson, who brought both elegance and energy to the stage. Entertainment was highlighted by the Solid Gold Dancers, who got the crowd on its feet with a throwback 70s disco medley.
GHBA President Adam Aschmann and SMC President Shirmel Gumbs-Heyliger, along with SMC Vice President and PRISM Awards Chair Laurie Wilson, kicked off the celebration by recognizing the many generous sponsors who made the event possible. Honoring Industry Leaders
The evening paid tribute not only to the creativity and craftsmanship of Houston’s building community but also to the leaders who have shaped it. Jim Holcomb of Holcomb Properties Company was recognized as this year’s Trailblazer Award recipient, honored for his decades of vision and service to the industry, from workforce initiatives to charitable support.
The SMC also recognized Allpoints Surveying as the Associate Member Company of the Year, and Vicki Cheairs of Longbridge Financial as the Board Member of the Year for her outstanding dedication.
