The 2022 Houston’s Best PRISM Awards, a GHBA Sales and Marketing Council event, rocked the evening with a near sell-out crowd on October 1 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel. This black-tie gala showcased the 50th anniversary of the musical treasure QUEEN while honoring the very finest in the homebuilding industry in the categories of People, Product and Promotion.
Congratulations to the coveted Grand Award winners: Custom Builder – William David Homes; Volume Builder – J. Patrick Homes; Remodeler – ResCom Custom Homes; Developer – Johnson Development Corporation and Promotions – Newmark Homes.
Another shining star of the evening was the PRISM emcee, Lily Jang, a Houston-based Realtor who has sold $40 million in real estate in 2021 alone. She is also the host and producer of Houston’s only weekly 30-minute real estate show on KPRC2+ called “House 2 Home.” Over the course of this golden jubilee event, Jang oversaw the presentation of more than 150 additional awards that were presented to Houston area builders, developers, remodelers and industry professionals.

This year, a special presentation was made to an individual who “blazes a trail to guide others and a pioneer in their field of endeavor.” Doug Goff with Johnson Development was awarded the SMC Trailblazer Award. This award is unique as it is not presented on an annual basis, but rather when an individual’s career accomplishments merit the special recognition this award represents.
For charitable commitment and a philanthropic spirit, Johnson Development Corporation received a PRISM for best charitable project for their “Give Back-Build Hope” program. For each home sold in November and December, Johnson Development made a monetary donation to six charities serving a wide range of needs including single mothers, adults with disabilities, animals, children and families experiencing a loss of income. They were Abigail’s Place, Brookwood Community, Family Hope, Fort Bend PAWS, Rainbow Room and Texana Center.
The year’s award recipients were chosen by a panel of premier industry professionals from around the country who judged the entries. Judging criteria varied according to the category, but all category winners were required to be active members of the GHBA in good standing, and to have shown commitment and excellence to the homebuilding industry as a whole.
Product categories in construction and remodeling included price range and specific room designs; Promotion awards were presented for TV, radio, print, outdoor, direct mail, and special events. The People awards honored excellence in sales, marketing, and construction supervision. GHBA received nearly 500 entries overall.
Congratulations to all of the winners and finalists!
