🌟 Meet Drew Ondrey with Southern Green Builders, our featured member for #MembershipMonday! 🏡 Heres a look at his journey:

🏠 His start in the industry: Growing up, Drew always had a strong interest in construction and design. That interest led him to the residential building industry over 22 years ago. Drew started with hands-on field experience, working small warranty claims, to then learning the ins and outs of project management, budgeting and customer service. Over time, he built a team and launched his own company, Southern Green Builders, focused on delivering high-quality, custom homes.

👷 GHBA: Today, Drew serves at the Custom Builders Council president, but hes been involved with the GHBA for over 20 years. He joined the GHBA to connect with like-minded professionals who are passionate about raising the standards of our industry. The association offers a platform to learn, share ideas and advocate for our profession, and he saw it as a way to grow personally while giving back to the building community, he says.

🤝 Charity Work: Outside of GHBA, Drew supports his local parish and Habitat for Humanity. He also leads youth groups and youth sports programs, and helps families in need of safe and stable housing or any general repairs. Giving back to the community is just as important as building within it, Drew said.

🍃 Passions: In his free time, Drew enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors.

🏡 GHBA’s Impact: Being part of GHBA has opened the door to relationships I never would have made otherwise. I’ve gained mentors, colleagues and friends who have helped me grow my business and expand my perspective, Drew said. The networking, education and camaraderie have had a direct impact on both my professional success and personal fulfillment.

🌟 Meet George Gomez, CEO of Res Com Custom Builders, our featured member for #MembershipMonday! 🏡 Heres a look at his journey:

🏠 His start in the industry: George began his homebuilding career 20 years ago as a warranty customer service rep with Brighten Homes while completing his accounting degree at the University of Houston. After graduating, he transitioned into construction management and never looked back. His time with K. Hovnanian Homes gave him hands-on experience that helped shape his love for the industry. Eventually, he discovered his passion for custom homebuilding — a path that allows him to be creative, solve problems and build one-of-a-kind homes.

👷 GHBA: George and his team joined the GHBA seven years ago after encouragement from longtime friend and former GHBA president John Williams. He currently serves as Vice President of the Custom Builders Council and is on track to serve as CBC President next year. George says joining GHBA was the best decision they’ve made for their business. Res Com is also a proud three-time PRISM Award winner for Remodeler of the Year.

🤝 Charity Work: One cause close to George’s heart is Camp Hope, which supports disabled veterans through outreach, housing, and recovery services. Introduced to the program by a friend, George was especially moved by its impact and remains a dedicated supporter.

🏈 Passions: When hes not building dream homes, George enjoys live sports (Go Cougs!), fishing, traveling with his family and soaking up every moment of life.

🏡 GHBA’s Impact: On a personal level, the GHBA has helped me grow into a better business owner through fellow members and its resources. The advice and support from others in the industry are always just a phone call away, and it truly feels like a family. Being surrounded by like-minded people has been one of the most valuable resources I could ask for, George said.

🌟 Meet Paul Canady, COO of Res Com Custom Builders, our featured member for #MembershipMonday! 🏡 Heres a look at his journey:

🏠 His start in the industry: Paul began his homebuilding career shortly after graduating with a history degree from the University of Houston in 2005. By 2014, while working for a semi-custom builder, he met future business partner George Gomez. “One day I told him, ‘Hey, I’m quitting and going off on my own.’ He said, ‘You aren’t serious.’ I said, ‘Are you coming with me?’” And just like that, Res Com Custom Builders was born.

👷 GHBA: Paul and his team joined the GHBA seven years ago, and he wishes he had joined sooner, Paul said. Sponsored by Scooter from Builders FirstSource, he quickly discovered the value it brought to their business. Paul serves the GHBA on the Remodelers Council Board and has served for several years as the Garage Sale Chair. Paul also received a Presidential Citation from the Remodelers Council for Distinguished Service this year, and Res Com is proud to be a three-time PRISM Award winner for Remodeler of the Year.

🌟 Meet Bryan Phillips, President of Alair Homes Houston, our featured member for #MembershipMonday! 🏡 Heres a look at his journey:

🏠 His start in the industry: In 2000, just one semester shy of graduating from the University of Houston, Bryan took a job as a construction superintendent — despite having no experience — simply to try something new before jumping into finance. One week in, he was hooked. “I fell in love with the industry and knew I was going to do this forever in some capacity.” He worked with a couple of builders before launching his own company in 2005.

👷 GHBA: Bryan joined the GHBA shortly after he started his business in 2005. As a brand-new builder, he originally started for the contracts, but quickly found even more value in the GHBA. He’s been active on the Custom Builders Council “forever,” and has served on the Education Committee for four years, now in his second year as chair. He’s passionate about growing the Education Committee’s impact and reach.

🤝 Charity Work: Bryan and his team support Boys & Girls Country in Hockley with donations and resources.

🎣 Passions: Bryan and his wife of 23 years are raising three daughters, ages 19, 17, and 13, and he prioritizes time with family above all. He enjoys golf (twice a year!) and catching a few Astros games when he can.

🏡 GHBA’s Impact: I learned early on in my career that the efforts of a few were benefitting thousands of us in the industry. Once that became clear, there was no choice but to give my time, Bryan said. I’ve also created some friendships that will live longer than my career and will pay dividends forever.

🌟 Meet Jeff Roberts, President and Owner of TriFection Remodeling and Construction, our featured member for #MembershipMonday! 🏡 Heres a look at his journey:

🏠 His start in the industry: Jeff began remodeling homes while attending Texas A&M University, originally as a way to pay for college while pursuing a Pre-Med/Pre-Vet degree. As the medical field began to shift, Jeff realized his true passion was in construction. He’s now been in the remodeling industry for over 35 years.

👷 GHBA: Jeff got involved with the GHBA specifically through the Remodelers Council and has been active since 2014. Currently, Jeff serves as Vice President of the Remodelers Council. Under his leadership, TriFection was named GHBA’s Remodeler of the Year in 2023 and received the BBB Pinnacle Award in 2022.

🤝 Charity Work: Outside the GHBA, Jeff gives back through the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo’s beverage distribution committee and previously spent a decade coaching youth baseball in Spring Branch.

🎣 Passions: While work and volunteerism keep him busy, Jeff enjoys fishing, golfing and catching live sporting events whenever he can.

🏡 GHBA’s Impact: The biggest thing that I get out of the GHBA is the relationships with other business owners who are willing to pass along their knowledge and experience when I need help —and I’m glad to return the favor when they need support.
