History
The Benefit Homes Project started its 28th year in 2008 and has donated close to $3 million to local charities. The goal from the time of the project’s inception has been to construct quality homes that are sold at market value, for a profit.
An extraordinary amount of money is raised each year, the majority of which is given to local charities. This generosity reflects the commitment that Houston area builders have to the community.

How the Project Works
Each year, two projects begin with the generosity of the developers who donate the home sites, and the builders who orchestrate the construction. It could not come together without the building industry vendors who donate time, labor, and materials that complete the homes. The two homes are then sold at market value and the majority of the proceeds benefit our local charities.
Currently the Benefit Homes projects distribute the majority of proceeds between the Alzheimer’s Association of Houston, Texas Children’s Cancer Center and HomeAid Houston.
Project Update

We would like to thank our 2007 Benefit Homes teams, which included Hallmark Design Homes partnering with Bridgeland, and Chesmar Homes partnering with Land Tejas Development.
2007 was an especially successful year for Benefit Homes for several reasons. First, both homes sold within days of one another, a record for the Project, and most importantly, proceeds from the sale of both homes netted close to $300,000 for our local charities.
We are pleased to announce that Chesmar Homes and Land Tejas Development, along with Wilshire Homes and GGP / Bridgeland have generously committed to Benefit Homes projects for 2008.
We would like to thank Angela Schimmels with Signs by Tomorrow for our first vendor donation of 2008. Signs by Tomorrow has generously donated the signage for the Wilshire Homes / GGP-Bridgeland Benefit Home Project breaking ground in March in Bridgeland.
We would also like to thank Hardman Signs and Paul Womack of Wasted Space Communications for their generous donation of the sign and sign design for the Chesmar Homes / Land Tejas Development Benefit Home Project in Sterling Lakes.
2008 will also mark the 10th year in a row that Land Tejas Development has graciously donated a homesite. We would like to thank Al Brende and Land Tejas Development for their generosity and ongoing support of this Project and the many other contributions that Land Tejas makes to the Greater Houston Builders Association and to our community.
Because of the generosity and support of virtually hundreds of companies and individuals involved with the GHBA Benefit Homes Projects, more men, women and children have a better quality of life.
